a group of 25 expats, comprising researchers, college students and employees, had a fun-filled sunday at the qianhai international talent hub. their itinerary included visits to the qianhai international conventional center, qianhai stone park, oh bay and sea world.

the foreign talents’ exchange activity in qianhai was jointly organized by the shenzhen municipal science, technology and innovation commission, qianhai international talent hub and the shenzhen center for international exchange of personnel. themed “live in qianhai, live global,” the event served as an engaging and informative platform for expat talents to connect, gain insights into, and develop a deep appreciation for the vibrant city of shenzhen, according to the organizers.

during their visit to the qianhai international talent hub, the group was introduced to its one-stop service website and learned about the 635 services available to overseas talents, encompassing aspects of covering government, business and daily life.

they also participated in a legal workshop presented by betty li, a lawyer from guangdong gh law firm, which focused on social security and individual income tax. li used a specific case to explain the measures, triggering a lively discussion among the expats about how to handle labor contract disputes.

tymish yuriyovych ohulchanskyya, a physics professor from shenzhen university, expressed his satisfaction with the event, saying, “i took a few photos at the taxation part. it’s a great opportunity to stay in touch with the hub in case any problems arise.”

ohulchanskyya said he valued being part of the community and appreciated the chance to meet potential cooperation partners and colleagues he hadn’t known before.

esma toprak, a turkish doctoral student in economics who has been in shenzhen for nearly eight years, appreciated the historical aspect of the city. she particularly enjoyed visiting the exhibition at the qianhai international conventional center, which showcases the development of shenzhen in commemoration of its 40th anniversary as a special economic zone.

“i always heard one of my teachers talking about the historical development of shenzhen. now, i see real images of the city’s rapid growth and development,” toprak said. the journey provided her with a deeper understanding of her teachers’ accounts.

as the day progressed, the group also rode the ferris wheel at oh bay, enjoying qianhai’s panoramic views. the activity concluded at sea world yesterday afternoon.
